Worth Every Penny

I'm just as frugal as the next gal , maybe more, but once in a while I will come across a product that is worth every penny. Just because I can get a product for under $1, doesn't mean I'll like it, use it, or that it's even good for us. Spending more (sometimes 3x more) on something I love and trust is worth more than saving a few bucks to me.

I don't splurge on day trips to the spa or getting my nails done (honestly, I go once a year when I have a gift certificate), instead I put my "extras" into products we need.

If you read my blog entry about the toxic ingredients in beauty products, you'll know why I'm very cautious about what I put on my family. These are a few of my absolute favorite, must-haves for babies and toddlers (chemical-free)...

  • Burt's Bees Baby Shampoo & Body Wash - Tear-free and smells unbelievable (Cost: $8.00, 12 oz.)

  • Burt's Bees Baby Lotion - Yummy scent and makes skin incredibly soft (Cost: $6.99, 7 oz.)
  • Burt's Bees Diaper Cream - Lasts forever and is waaaay better than Desitin (Cost: $6.99, 2 oz.) NOTE: Contains Almond Oil for those with nut allergies.

  • Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry Flouride-Free Toothpaste - We choose flouride-free for personal beliefs. This toothpaste is yummy and does the trick. Also lasts a long time. (Cost: $3.69, 4 oz.)

I've sent both Burt's Bees and Tom's of Maine a letter to let them know how much I love their products. Tom's responded very quickly and sent free samples of a sls-free toothpaste that I wanted to try and a FULL size tube of their natural shaving cream -- both boxes included $1 off coupons (THANKS, Tom's!). No word from Burt's, but it won't stop me from buying their products... two thumbs up!
