No Weekly Menu This Week

With my Dad still in the hospital and not much going on in our refrigerator, we're "winging it" this week.  I'll probably pull out some freezer meals, throw some leftover veggies into a crockpot for some more Cabbage Soup, and cook up the Spaghetti Squash that was given to us.... nothing too exciting.

The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide: A Quick Reference to Foods & Their Effect on pH LevelsOnce my Dad gets out of the hospital and is recovering at our house, our diet is going to change slightly to support my Dad's efforts.  After researching Anti-Cancer diets, I've learned a LOT about the power of avoiding acid-producing foods and the success of alkaline-friendly meals.

We are going to be doing our best to follow the Alkaline chart, get back to drinking our green juice, and avoid sugars and processed foods as much as possible.  We are prepared for slip-ups and we have all agreed that we will simply do our best to support eachother.  We are also prepared to increase our weekly grocery 'budget' a bit to intentionally buy more organic produce.  Luckily, our garden is taking off so we'll have lettuce, beans, peas, strawberries, squash, carrots, etc. for FREE!

We are pretty good about living this kind of lifestyle anyway -- we avoid red meat, we eat TONS of vegetables, avoid pre-packaged foods (for the most part) so it shouldn't be that far of a stretch.  Giving up coffee will probably be the worst of it.  *groans*

Anyway, going forward our weekly menus might seem a little more, errrrr, adventurous boring.  Like I said, we're not shooting for 100% here, so we'll see what we end up with!

If you have any experience with Alkaline recipes, please email me some!  Or, if you have any great resources, I'd love to know!  Thanks!
