Part 4: Staying Active
Some times being outdoors is the last place we want to be when it hits 120-degrees. Luckily, there are plenty of indoor activities to keep the kids active.
- Try out your local bowling alley for summer promotions or visit KidsBowlFREE.com to find a location near you.
- Miniature Golf - Some facilities are indoors while others are outdoors, but check with your local put-put place for current coupons and promotions. Visiting their website will usually guide you to some valuable printable coupons. Check out Crackerjax's current coupons.
- Let the kids bounce all their energy out at an indoor Bounce House such as Bounce U or Pump It Up. Call ahead to your nearest location since many are offering summer specials for the kids!
- Burn the boundless energy at a local park built with an engaging playground. Check out Boundless Playgrounds to find a local park with playground near you.
- Go for an early morning bike ride, swim, or walk around the neighborhood.
Game On - Deck out the backyard (or indoors if it's too hot) with a maze including a hula hoop, basketball bounce, sack or egg race, jump rope, or other games.
Gather friends or the entire family together for a friendly game of tug o'war, tag, or soccer. Don't forget to supply plenty of water and time outs. :)
Create an age-appropriate obstacle course for the kids and see if they can beat their time. Join in the race and enjoy Popsicles as prizes!
Design an outdoor scavenger hunt looking for things from the alphabet! Don't forget to bring a camera and this great printable list with you!
