According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer within her lifetime; that's 12 percent of all women who will be personally impacted by the disease.
Yoplait makes it easy for people to participate in the fight against breast cancer by saving and mailing in their pink lids from Yoplait yogurt cups. For every pink lid mailed in by December 31, 2009, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, up to $1.5 million, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000. In addition, you can visit YourLidMatters.com to create online lid collection teams. You can also engage and inspire friends, family and colleagues to join the cause.

My best friend's mom fought a brave fight and beat breast cancer. Sadly, she lost her fight to bone cancer a few years later. It was hard to lose my second mom and see my friend and her son lose someone so important to them. I dream of a day where this doesn't happen again.

Hi all - my name is tammy and i am originally from Philadelphia, Pa however now i live in Morgantown, WV. I have the most wonderful job here in Morgantown. I work at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center as the Assistant Director of Development. Essentially, I have the opportunity to go out and speak with influential people in our community, state, and around the country and ask for their assistance in raising money for our cancer center, our breast care center, our mobile mammography bus, cancer research, clinical trials, and beyond. I also get to plan fundraising events for the cancer center. Fashion Shows (with over 300 attendees and designers coming in from NY to partake in these events, Pamper Parties, our annual Cancer Center Gala held at the Greenbrier in WV, and much more.
ReplyDeleteI personally have been affected and effected by cancer having been diagnosed with melanoma... My mother also had melanoma, my grandmother had breast cancer, and my brother had testicular cancer... I am please to say we are all cancer free at this time.
It’s wonderful for me to raise money and awareness for this cause, to feel the attachment to patients, former patients, and listen to the stories of successes, failures, hopes, and dreams.
Please view our cancer centers web site at http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/mbrcc/ - I truly believe you will be more than impressed.
Thanks for taking the time to read this
Tammy
Also, if at any time you have questions about our center or want to know more you can email me at tams8267@yahoo.com or twhitacre@hsc.wvu.edu
i'm also a twitter follower (tams8267) and facebook fan - but i was before this contest occured anyway (=^:^=)

I have seen four women I know personally deal with breast cancer in their lives, and if anything, it has made me much more aware of the disease. I did have a scare myself, but thankfully it was nothing. I have been so busy, but will be calling to schedule my mammogram thanks to all the reminders out there to be vigilant and continue to do self exams as well.

I have been saving lids and mailing them in for years! We do it in our office at work. This past year one of the girls found out she had breast cancer and the rest of us went through it with her. She is just recently married and is living proof that there is life after breast cancer.

ReplyDeleteI've participated in the Race for the Cure here in AZ the past many years. I also had the privilege to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in San Francisco a few years ago. It was such a meaningful opportunity to see so many survivors and their families cheering us on as we walked 60 miles across the city. I'll never forget the experience.
