You may notice from my Weekly Menu Plans that we eat mainly chicken or fish and we prefer fresh, natural meats.  It can get a little difficult tracking down natural meats without spending more than I planned.  I used to pick up chicken at our local grocery stores when it was on sale ($1.67-$1.77lb) but, to be completely honest, there is something about chicken (any meat for that matter) that is pumped full of water, additives and preservatives that grosses me out... not to mention the hormones and antibiotics.  I shudder to think what all that does inside our bodies.

I was absolutely ecstatic to get an email from Zaycon Foods offering to send us some fresh, natural chicken breasts to try out -- 100% natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients. Zaycon Foods generously sent over a large cooler of fresh chicken breasts that were gigantic and ready to be prepared.  I quickly divided them up so we could sample them in a variety of ways!

Together with our good friends we sampled the tender chicken breasts and we were ALL pleasantly thrilled with the quality.  It's amazing how fresh and flavorful natural chicken is -- and we all noticed how much "fuller" the breasts were.  This was definitely something that we all wanted to keep in our fridges/freezers!

Well, I am so excited to share with you that Zaycon Foods, a Washington-based company, is coming to Arizona!

Zaycon Foods is bringing Fresh Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts 

to Gilbert and Peoria at $1.49/lb.

I am so stoked that we can all get 100% natural chicken for just $1.49lb.  I have never seen it this low anywhere!!

Zaycon Foods will be holding events at two locations on Saturday, January 22, 2011.  The fresh, natural chicken breasts are sold in 40lb. cases (4-10lb. bags) for just $1.49lb.  

Are you wondering what you'd do with 40 pounds of fresh chicken?  I am planning on separating the chicken into family-size portions (in FoodSaver or Ziploc baggies) with either marinade, seasonings or plain.  I will also baked/boil some to have it shredded and ready-to-go.  The bags all freeze flat, so it really doesn't take up that much room.

This would also be something that you may want split with a family member or friend.  Ask around and bring a friend down to the event to share some chicken. ;)

• Go HERE and Register for an account at Zaycon Foods.  When registering, please use 'gooddealgal' in the referral field.
• Log-in to your account and click on "Place Order" for as many 40lb. boxes of fresh chicken as you need.  Remember, it can be frozen for 6-9 months so think ahead.  Zaycon Foods is planning to return within that time as well.
• You'll be guided to choose your pick-up location: Gilbert or Peoria (see above).
• Go to your pick-up location on Saturday, January 22nd to get your chicken!  On a side note, the chicken will *probably* be OK on your drive home, but since my drive will be more than 30 min. I am planning on bringing a cooler with ice.
• Be a good friend and spread the word....Your friends want fresh chicken, too! :)
